Christina Dougherty, LCSW, SAP

Christina is the owner/founder of the Center for Psychotherapy.  Bringing twenty-five years of experience in the fields of mental health, substance abuse, social services, and child welfare, she is licensed in Pennsylvania and Florida to evaluate and treat psychiatric, psychological, social, adjustment and somatic problems. Christina specializes in individual psychotherapy for adolescents, adults, and seniors. She received her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree in 2002 from the University of South Florida with a dual specialization in clinical social work and substance abuse counseling.  Prior to that, she graduated magna cum laude with a BA in clinical psychology in 1999, with a concentration in clinical psychology.  She is a member of Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology, as well as the Graduate Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.  Christina received her pre-licensure training at the Tampa VA Medical Center, where she went on to serve eight years as a civil servant and clinical social worker helping create and implement their Dual Diagnosis Treatment Program, as well as serving other programs and departments within the Medical Center.  Christina also worked for and collaborated with Tampa General Hospital, City of Tampa City Council Homeless Outreach, Tampa Agency for Community Treatment Services, The Renfrew Center, and various private and government organizations prior to and after beginning private practice work in 2010.  Christina is trained in psychoanalytic theory, CBT, motivational and transpersonal theory, mindfulness/Buddhist theory, 12-step facilitation, and energy psychology. She has experience treating depression, bipolar, trauma/PTSD, anxiety disorders, OCD, adjustment issues, geriatric issues, LGBTQ, substance use disorders, eating disorders, gambling addiction, ACOA/codependency, dual diagnosis, schizophrenia, dissociative disorders, and family/relational/ cultural/employment problems. Her medical social work background also provides expertise in detecting and treating the psychological and emotional problems correlating with physical problems like chronic pain, autoimmune disorders, and injury.   She is also trained in Critical Incidence Stress Debriefing/ Psychological First Aid and proud to have served veterans, military active duty, first responders in trauma treatment.  Christina is also a Certified Reiki Practitioner, Level II.  She has also served as a Licensed Foster Parent in both Florida and Pennsylvania.

Her office hours are Monday through Thursday 10am to 7pm and Friday 10am to 5pm.


Matthew McGahran, LCSW

Matthew began his career in child welfare, obtained his Masters in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania, and began doing psychotherapy and marital counseling for the Department of Defense and then various VA medical centers.  He has done private practice on his off hours since 2005 and gained training and certification in Domestic Violence, Batterer’s Intervention, Substance Abuse counseling, and Family and Divorce Mediation.  He is trained in cognitive behavioral and rational emotional therapies, motivational interviewing, spiritual/religious-based counseling, PREP marital, parenting, and 12 step facilitation.

His office hours are Saturdays from 9am to 1pm.  He also offers telehealth.
